I bet you won’t believe how beneficial some berries are for our health!
Blackberries, raspberries, blueberries and strawberries contain large quantities of ellagic acid (a polyphenol also found in hazelnuts and walnuts) which has proven to slow the growth of blood vessels (potentially just as effective as a medication!). Ellagic acid acts against VEGF and PDGF, the two most common mechanisms of stimulation of blood vessels used by cancer. Unlike classic anti-angiogenic drugs, they also detoxify cells by blocking the transformation of environmental carcinogens into toxic substances, and they stimulate the elimination of toxins. And the best part of it is no side effects!
Blueberries also contain two molecules called anthocyanidins and proanthocyanidins which force cancer cells to suicide (apoptosis). Cranberries, cinnamon and dark chocolate also contain are rich in proanthocyanidins.
Cherries like mistletoe have anti-cancer qualities as well. They are rich in glucaric acid. This substance facilitates the elimination of xenoestrogens that come from environmental chemicals.
Isn’t this amazing? And they are just in our supermarkets!… Enjoy!
